In may 2nd 1938, Hofmann syntethized, (adding a chemical group called diathylamid to the lisergic acid), the LSD, in german LYSERGSAUREDIATHYLAMID.

Until April 16th 1943 Hofmann didn't know he had produced the most powerfull psiocoactive ever made on the planet. That spring Hofmann accidentally igested trough breathing the LSD, as he describes " Last friday, April 16, I had to get my bike and leave the Lab. in the middle of the afternoon because I was really anxious and dizzy. At home, I laid in a semi-conscient state and I was broken up by fantastic images of extraordinary reallity playing an intense kaleidoscope game.

Aware that the only substance he had worked with that day that he didn't know yet was the LSD, he decided to try it in himself. Still not knowing the potency of the LSD he took 250 mcs, today it's knowm that 1/10 of this amount is enough to give any human being a ticket to another planet.
